About me
Hi, I'm Tessa. I am an experienced research and evaluation consultant and fundraiser for both the public and third sectors. I work collaboratively and flexibly with organisations to design and deliver high quality research and learning with impact for your service. I am based in Bristol and work with both local and national services and organisations.
I can help you to:
Strengthen your organisation's data collection processes
Define, articulate and measure impact effectively
Analyse your data and tell it's story
Work collaboratively with the people you support to generate learning
Evidence the need for your service to funders
Write successful funding applications
My Approach
Co-production is at the heart of my approach. I work as an equal partner with organisations and the people you support, ensuring the voices of those with knowledge and experience of the issues at hand are at the heart of the research. My research is grounded in feminist and anti-racist principles. As well as working independently, I also collaborate as an associate with research agencies including: ClearView Research, Curiosity Society and Praxis Collab.
My Subject Expertise
Across my career to date I have been fortunate to work across a wide range of themes including: children & young people, gender equality, refugees & asylum seekers, education, mental health & wellbeing, racial justice, older people, social entrepreneurship and more. I have particular expertise and experience in violence against women and girls, housing & homelessness, equality & inclusion and wellbeing & mindfulness.
My Background
I have worked in a wide range of research and fundraising roles in the Third Sector including as a Research Consultant at Renaisi, and as a Manager of a small charity. I have 12 years experience working with organisations to deliver high quality research and evaluation projects. I am also a trained facilitator and mindfulness teacher (see www.changeinmind.uk for more information).
I did my under-graduate degree in Politics and Philosophy at Leeds University, followed by a Masters Degree in Woman and Child Abuse Studies at London Metropolitan University. The Masters degree has a strong feminist basis and gave me a comprehensive understanding in causes, consequences of all forms of violence against women, trauma and how to effectively support survivors of violence.

“Tess is a careful and thorough research professional and she is good at considering scope and helping you think through what will be possible in the time available. As well as working on larger projects, she understands the needs and landscape of small charities well, and we were really happy with the needs assessment she carried out to support our future planning.” Maniprabha, Managing Director, Globe Community Project
